No one wants to take out a mortgage on their home. Unfortunately the recent recession has made this a reality that few people really expected or wanted. Taking out a mortgage is essentially a response to economic adversity. It is a recognition that your finances are not sustainable without a loan. A mortgage is essentially a loan against your home or property. As such, mortgages are generally large loans that get paid off slowly. If one is incapable of making those mortgage payments regularly, then their house can be foreclosed upon—i.e., taken from them. This is certainly a situation which anyone wants to avoid. Having your home taken from you is certainly a bad situation and one which virtually everyone will try to avoid.
